The reaction to Chinese period piece Monarch Industry, which marks Zhang Ziyi’s highly-anticipated TV drama debut, hasn’t exactly been very flattering.

Aside from some very creative netizens hilariously comparing her costumes to everything from animals to farm produce, the show’s ratings have been so abysmal that streaming platforms lowered their fees for watching new episodes in advance.

Much has also been said about the script required Ziyi, 42, to play the character as a 15-year-old. That’s the same age as the actress' stepdaughter, by the way.

However, all it took was for a new behind-the-scenes clip to change the internet’s tune, at least about Ziyi’s commitment to her job.
