Another party has also stepped up to clarify debunk some of the rapper's claims

YMC denies rapper’s claims of dating Kang Daniel

Kang Daniel was pulled into a round of dating rumours as rapper Yook Jidam claimed that she was dating, or had dated, the Wanna One member in the past.

The fiasco started when the 20-year-old made an Instagram post about a role-playing account, which writes fictional posts on what it’s like to date Kang Daniel. In her post, she claimed that the fans knew details about her dating history with Daniel, and demanded that Daniel contact her to clarify why someone else knew about “our story”.

She made multiple posts and Instagram stories about the issue, but has since deleted the majority of them.

In response, another rapper, Kasper, uploaded an Instagram post to tell her side of the story. She claimed that she invited Daniel, who was then a trainee, to a party two years ago. Jidam, who was also at the party, got to know him there, and they are said to have been “keeping in touch with positive feelings towards each other” following that.

Two of Yook Jidam's Instagram posts about having dated Kang Daniel. The first has since been deleted, while the caption on the second has been removed.

However, as the MMO Entertainment (Daniel’s agency) trainees started gearing up for Produce 101 Season 2 shortly after, Kasper said that Daniel and Jidam “settled things amicably because he wanted to focus on practicing (for the programme) as he thought it might be his last chance (to debut).”

After Kasper’s post, YMC Entertainment, which manages Wanna One and represents Daniel until the group’s disbandment on December 31, 2018, has also stepped forward to declare that they will be taking “legal action over the rumours”, effectively debunking Jidam’s claims.

Jidam’s father has also issued a statement, backing Kasper’s side of the story, and claimed that it was “difficult for me to understand why she wrote those posts and what she was thinking at the time”.

In related news, YMC also issued a strongly-worded statement against the blatant stalking by some of the group’s fans recently, which included obtaining the members’ contact information and bombarding them with calls and texts. Some of these fans went a step further and installed GPS trackers on the group’s vans, and made threats against the staff members that are in charge of Wanna One’s activities.
