Yeo Yann Yann’s Golden Horse Award-Winning Role In Wet Season Was Originally Meant For Fellow Best Actress Nominee Angelica Lee

Singapore-based Malaysian actress Yeo Yann Yann did us proud at the 56th Golden Horse Awards last Saturday (Nov 23) when she was named Best Actress for her performance in Singaporean filmmaker Anthony Chen’s Wet Season.

In a strange twist of fate, at least according to the Taiwanese media, the actress who was originally cast in the Yann Yann's role was fellow Malaysian star Angelica Lee, who was also nominated for Best Actress at the Golden Horse Awards this year. It was reported that the panel of judges had a tough time deciding if the award should go to Yann Yann or Angelica for her role in The Garden of Evening Mists but the former eventually emerged victorious.
