Chinese actor Xu Kai of Story Of Yanxi Palacefame recently made an appearance at an awards ceremony in Hengdian, China, where he didn’t exactly have the best experience, both on and off stage.
According to Chinese media, when the 25-year-old walked the red carpet, one of the hosts addressed the actor by the wrong name... twice. Once the host realised her mistake, she immediately apologised to Xu Kai, who accepted her apology very graciously.
Then, after the ceremony, the actor and his bodyguards were accosted by a group of fans at a lift lobby. The fans were all clamouring for the actor’s attention, making for a very chaotic scene.
In a video taken by one of the fans present, a woman could be heard yelling for Xu Kai to “take a picture with [her] child” multiple times. She could also be heard asking, :“[Can't] my kid take a picture [with Xu Kai]? Us adults won’t take a picture”.
Some people just can't seem to take a hint
Despite Xu Kai’s bodyguards repeating that there will be no photo-ops that night, she refused to give up, and even barged her way past the guards in an attempt to get closer to the actor.
Yeah, we wouldn't want to be in his shoes at that time
At that point, Xu Kai, who’d noticed the commotion, turned around and gave the woman an apologetic smile.
Which unfortunately, only made her angrier, for some reason. She quickly launched into a long tirade, berating the star for being “too much” and refusing to take a picture with her daughter, while Xu Kai stared uncomfortably at the closed lift door in front of him.
Showing some love
After the video was uploaded online, many netizens left comments criticising the woman’s entitled behaviour.
“This auntie’s crazy,” one wrote, while another commented: “I feel bad for Xu Kai”.
“Xu Kai rejected her very politely, he has the right to reject any request to take a photo with fans when he’s off the clock,” another netizen wrote.
