What's With The Stars Of The Spider-Man Films And Falling In Love On Set?
Love is in the air, or should we say, web?
Spider-Man: Homecoming’s Tom Holland and Zendaya may (or may not) be seeing each other. And they’re not the only couple to come out of a Spider-Man film.
Spider-man: Homecoming
Who: Tom Holland 21 & Zendaya 20
The Story: Tom and Zendaya (who plays Spidey’s classmate Michelle ‘MJ’ Jones) reportedly started seeing each other during filming, and have been going on vacations together. “We are like the best of friends. She’s so great and amazing,” Tom said of his co-star. And if you’re wondering, no, Zendaya’s character in the film is not supposed to be Mary Jane.
Current Status: Seen cruising around LA with the actor in his Audi recently, Zendaya took to Snapchat and complained about being tailed by paps. Alas, the pair denied that they’re dating by mocking rumours that they went on vacations together. So TomDaya shippers, don’t get your hopes too high.
Amazing Spider-Man
Who: Andrew Garfield 33 & Emma Stone 28
The Story: After meeting in 2010, the on-screen couple got together for real a year later, becoming Hollywood’s, um, Amazing couple. For the next four years they flaunted their lovely-dovey relationship in the public, appearing together on Saturday Night Live and the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards.
Current Status: They broke up in 2015 but remain supportive of each other. Garfield even gave Stone a standing O when she won the Oscar and Golden Globe this year. Sweet.
Spider-Man
Who: Toby Maguire 42 Kirsten Dunst 35
The Story: They reportedly started dating while filming 2001’s Spider-Man.
Current Status: They split for good before shooting 2007’s Spider-man 3. Another reason the last installment of the original Spidey totally sucked.
