“What’s The Big Deal!”: Fan Of Cecilia Yip Shouts At The Star After Failing To Take A Photo With Her

Hong Kong star Cecilia Yip has a strong fan base in China, thanks to her starring roles in the 1992 fantasy romance drama New Legend of Madame White Snake, and its 2019 remake, The Legend of the White Snake.

The 61-year-old recently had an unpleasant encounter with a Chinese fan at the airport and it was all caught on video.

Ceciliaknown for being personable and warm with her fans, was seen handing out autographs and greeting the crowd who showed up to send her off.

Just then, a man in a red floral shirt, lurched towards her to get a selfie.

Noticing that the man had gotten too close, Cecilia’s assistant stretched out her arm to protect the actress and gently pushed the fan aside.

“You can’t come over," she was heard saying to him.

The fan, offended by the assistant’s actions, immediately yelled back: “I can’t even take a photo? What’s the big deal!”

He continued to ramble incoherently, leaving Cecilia stunned.

She looked at him like a deer caught in the headlights, and took a few seconds to
regain her composure.

She then cheerily waved goodbye to her others fans as she walked away.

The clip went viral fast on Weibo, with many criticising the fan for his behaviour.

He was really upset

Cecilia later responded to the situation, stating: “Each person has their own way of expressing their affections, and I felt everyone’s passion. It’s just that the airport isn’t the ideal place for me to interact with others. Please don’t worry, this incident will not affect my mood, because I’m still happy to meet the fans of White Snake. I would advise everybody to remain calm and logical while expressing your sentiments. What you see online is just a short clip, and I hope all of you can be kinder and more understanding of others.”

The fan would also go on to post an apology for “scaring Cecilia at the airport”. He said he’s been a fan of Cecilia since a young age, and has since taken the time to reflect on his behaviour.

“These days, there are hardly any chances for [me] to be so up close and personal with celebrities. As such, my emotions were running high. Now that I’m middle-aged, I’m not doing well in my career either, and I’m uncertain of my future. Upon being rejected, I had trouble containing my emotions, and it was simply a reaction to stress,” he said.

For that reason, he asked for the understanding of others.

However, his apology backfired and he received even more criticism, with many saying he shouldn’t be using stress as an excuse to lash out at others.

Do you think he deserves forgiveness?
