Sorta.

We Know What Joanne Peh's Second Kid Is Going To Be Called

Dreamcoder marks Joanne Peh’s TV comeback after a two-year break following the birth of her daughter in 2015. In the new Ch 8 drama, which revolves around the tech industry, she plays a data analyst alongside Romeo Tan, Carrie Wong, Aloysius Pang, Jayley Woo, and Desmond Tan, who plays her love interest.
It's easy to forget that Joanne is now in her second trimester, considering how slim she looks in her billowy dress. At the press conference for the drama on Wednesday (Jan 25), she tells us that her second pregnancy is easier, compared to her first. “I’ve been preoccupied with work and taking care of my toddler that I don’t think about my current pregnancy," she says. "Sometimes, I don’t feel pregnant. Instead of feeling tired, I feel even more energetic.”

8 DAYS: Can we start off by telling you that you don't look like you're pregnant at all?
JOANNE PEH: Yah, if I wear a flowy dress like today, people sometimes do not know I'm pregnant. I’ve put on about 4kg now. There was once I was crossing the road at my own pace, and a driver honked at me. I guess he didn't know I was pregnant and must have been thinking: “Why is that woman walking so slowly? Can she hurry?” (Laughs) But there are days when I feel tired, and I do feel heavy.

So here's a long shot: Can you tell us if you're having a boy or a girl?
(Smiles) We don’t want to know until we deliver. Maybe it’s ‘cos one of us wants a girl and the other wants a boy, so we choose not to know beforehand. I guess we have to wait to find out!

You said that you were very emotional during your first pregnancy. Was it the same this time round?
I’m still emotional but I don’t cry as easily now. It’s hard when my husband [actor Qi Yuwu] leaves [for work in China], and I’m all by myself. Sometimes, just looking at my daughter and seeing her grow up makes me feel emotional too. I’d start imagining how she would grow up and leave me in the future. But I think I felt more emotional during my first pregnancy ‘cos I was working so much before that, and I was a little lost when I had nothing to do suddenly. Now, there’s so much going on in my life, I feel energetic.

You have this policy of not wanting to show your daughter’s face on social media. I guess your second child's name will remain a secret like 'Baby Qi'?
Yes, it’s going to be the same. I won’t upload photos of them. Maybe I'll wait till they are older. We'll see (smiles).

So what nickname is your second kid going to have? Baby Qi 2?
Most probably yes, #babyqi2.

Dreamcoder premieres on Feb 7, Tuesday, 9pm.
