Wang Leehom, Li Yundi wrapped up in relationship rumours again

Back in 2012, classical pianist Li Yundi, along with singer Wang Leehom, became embroiled in rumours that they were in a relationship after collaborating at the New Year's Gala 2012. The pair sung praises of each other about their musical skills, but rumours of them being more than friends started spreading like wildfire on the internet.

The speculation got so out of hand that both of them were forced to make a statement on their respective Weibo platforms. Leehom’s post, which was made on January 3, 2013, read, “I didn’t want to comment on this because it’s really ridiculous! However, there have been too many news articles so I decided that I needed to write this instead of being misunderstood by others. I’m a heterosexual, and Li Yundi likes girls too. What’s this about us being a couple? Perhaps people meant it as a joke, or as entertainment news, but I hope that everyone is able to differentiate between truth and falsehoods! Sorry, I’m someone with a straightforward personality, and I place great importance about what is being reported about me.”

In the same year, he went public with his then-girlfriend, Lee Jinglei, whom he has since married and has three children with.

On the same day that Leehom went public with Jinglei, Yundi also announced that he had found love as he uploaded photos of himself with a lady named Tian Fei. The pair broke up after three years.

However, till date, there are still speculations about the pair being romantically involved as netizens pointed out that Yundi has recently deleted his Weibo post clarifying the rumours between him and Leehom. This has led netizens to wonder why he did so, with some wondering if this means that he is taking back his words about them not being in a relationship.

While some pointed out that it was “strange” to have noticed that a five-year old Weibo post was deleted, others got straight to the point and said, “Please leave a married couple that even have children together alone.”
