Wang Leehom Has Been Driving The Same BMW For 13 Years
He also has an unexpected but practical reason for not giving his car a new paint job.
Last August, Taiwanese host Blackie Chen sold his McLaren 720S sports car to fund his newly established basketball league, the P. League+. Things have kicked into high gear since then, and crowds have flocked to watch the games.
Wang Leehom was one of the fans who attended the game on Mar 6, and his appearance at the event made headlines for a very unexpected reason: his car. Blackie was there when Leehom arrived at the stadium, but instead of heading right to the courts, Blackie took one look at Leehom’s car and decided to grill him on it.

You see, Leehom has been driving the same car for the past 13 years and it’s looking a little worse for wear. Numerous scratches can be seen on its black paint job, which Blackie immediately questioned. He quipped, “Looking at this car… The driver’s skills are probably pretty bad. Did you get hit by a taxi?” Leehom clarified that the scratches have nothing to do with accidents on the road, but are the result of his poor parking skills. “I hit the wall when I was parking,” he admitted sheepishly.
Although the make of the car was not identified during their conversation, it can be identified as a BMW from the tire valve caps which feature its logo.
Poor Leehom getting a tad defensive
Leehom shared that he has no intention of getting a new paint job for this very practical reason: “Others have spotless cars that are sent to the workshop the moment they get a small scratch. In the end, they have to check their license plates to see if that’s their car! On the other hand, I can point out my car from a mile away. I’ve saved a lot of time this way, right?”
Yes, they eventually made it into the stadium
This isn’t the first time Leehom’s frugal habits have been revealed to the public. David Tao once exposed Leehom for having “a whole bunch of socks with holes in them in his closet”. Leehom has also been using the same luggage for the past decade, and has used the same outfit for his performances for the past 14 years.
