News Outlet Hilariously Labels Taiwanese Singer Waa Wei As "Member Of The Public" In News Segment

In situations like this, we don't know who feels worse — the reporter or the celebrity?

Taiwanese media outlet TTV news recently carried out a street interview about a controversy in which delivery workers were suspected of contaminating food.

In an interview clip that has gone viral, one of the interviewees was expressing her disapproval towards the issue. "No, I can't accept it, because the food was already contaminated by the dirty water in the shoes. That means my food can't be eaten anymore," said the woman, who was labelled on screen as "a member of the public".

While that sounds like a perfectly normal response, here's the bizarre yet hilarious part.

Netizens noticed at one glance that the woman, identified by the news outlet as "a member of the public", was actually Taiwanese singer Waa Wei, the 43-year-old two-time Golden Melody Awards Best Female Mandarin Singer.

“Why is the Best Mandarin Female Singer pretending to be a random person?” questioned a netizen, while another called her a “A Golden Melody-winning ‘citizen'”.

Many others found the situation amusing, asking if the reporter was "joking".

“Shouldn’t she sing a couple of lines after the interview?” quipped another.

Even Taiwanese host Matilda Tao couldn't believe what she saw. “The reporter didn’t recognise her?!” asked Matilda in the comments.

Waa Wei, on the other hand, laughed it off in the most unbothered way.

After the incident, her stylist shared a selfie she'd taken with Waa Wei while she was actually conducting the interview. The former then joked in the caption: “A ‘member of the public’ being interviewed.”

The singer first reposted the clip, then shared a separate story tagging the stylist, quipping: “This person is making drinks for the ‘member of the public’ to calm her nerves.”

Some netizens, however, noticed that the news segment was later corrected, and her label was changed from “member of the public” to “Golden Melody Best Female Singer Waa Wei.”

Someone probably ended up in a meeting with their boss after this went viral.
Laughing at herself like an unbothered queen.
