Vivian Hsu Says She’s Not “Married To A Rich Businessman”, Calls Her Husband An “Office Worker With A Slightly Higher Salary”

At the event, she read out a special thank-you note she had penned, sighing that while a Golden Melody award might have evaded her this time, she’s grateful for the opportunity to stand on stage.

She also thanked Sean for his support, before going on to clarify once again: “I really hate how the media reports that I’m married to a rich businessman, or the reason why I’m making my singing comeback is ‘cos my husband’s business is in peril. That’s not true at all.”

Vivian shared that while reports had claimed that Sean was in financial trouble two years ago, he’s merely an “office worker with a slightly higher salary”, and that his family, being not in showbiz, were not used to the intense media scrutiny.

“They’re quite private, and I felt embarrassed, but they knew that once [Sean] married me, this is how showbiz [works],” she said.

When the media continued to ask Vivian to clarify Sean’s current financial situation, all the 45-year-old would say was that her husband is both smart and hardworking, and that every one will experience a slump in their career.

“I’m not too clear about the affairs of a listed company, you guys can learn more about it by reading their financial reports,” she said.

She then ended things off smoothly by emphasising that she’d made her musical comeback 'cos she loves performing, and that this is something that she hopes to do even when she’s old.

“Your support is the best preservative for me, I believe that 30 years later, I’d still be relevant [‘cos of your support],” said Vivian, who’s celebrating her 30th anniversary in showbiz this year.
