Does Hong Kong star Steven Ma have 72 hours a day?

In addition to hosting TVB cooking show Golden Banquet, the 51-year-old is also the head of TVB’s artiste training department and the creative director of Radio Television Hong Kong.

Yesterday (Nov 15), Steven announced on Instagram that he has been elected as a co-opted member of the Art Form sub-committee (Theatre) under Hong Kong’s Leisure and Cultural Services Department.

Showing a pic of his appointment letter, he wrote: “I am officially a civil servant. I will do my best and work hard!"

According to the Leisure and Cultural Services Department’s website, the Program and Development Committee and six Art Form Sub-committees will advise the Department on programme strategies, plans, resource allocation and the support of budding and small-scale performing arts groups.

Steven will serve a two-year term ending Oct 31, 2024.

His careeer is on the rise

Last year, it was rumored that Steven had intended to run for this year's Legislative Council, however he denied it.

Since leaving TVB in 2012, he has been developing his career in China. In 2016, he shifted his focus to stage productions, writing, directing, and acting. He also runs a chain of very successful learning centres (aka tuition centres) in Hong Kong and China as well as an artiste training centre.
