TVB Actor Evergreen Mak’s Career Got Derailed ’Cos He Was Dragged Into A Ponzi Scheme

Remember Hongkong actor Evergreen Mak? In 2016, the 51-year-old was on the road to becoming one of TVB's most popular actors after playing supporting roles for most of his career when he abruptly went off the radar.

Turns out, Evergreen was unwittingly embroiled in a Ponzi scheme. He and his wife Allison Lam had invested HK$4mil (S$730,000) in a friend's business, which they believed involved the selling of iPhones.

Little did they know that their friend had lied to them and said friend ended up using HK$1.18mil (S$216,000) that he had received from another investor to pay the actor back.
