Edison Chen Calls Tony Leung A “Very Stylish Guy”
The streetwear icon praised Tony’s unique style.
While we know Hong Kong film legend Tony Leung more for his acting chops than his wardrobe, Edison Chen thinks otherwise.
In a YouTube interview, the Clot founder called Tony a “very stylish guy”.
High praise coming from the former bad boy who lives and breathes street fashion.
Not to be outdone, Tony wore a shirt with teddy bear motifs sewn on.
We wonder if he purposely dressed a little more flamboyantly for the interview.
“Do you style yourself or do you have a stylist?” asked Edison, to which Tony replied that he shops for himself.
“I am not out to impress anyone with my clothes. You just have to please yourself and have fun,” says Tony.
“I also love to add some details to my outfit. Something playful and funny,” he added.
Edison then gave an example of Tony’s idea of fun, like his love for mismatched socks, to which the latter laughed.
“Exactly. Just like those shoes you gifted me. I wore them to Venice with something quite formal, adding a sense of humour and playfulness to it. I think that’s fun. Otherwise, it becomes boring,” replied Tony.
Guess Edison was sharp enough to notice the subtle details to Tony’s dressing.
And now, we will be watching out for them too.
Tony also didn’t think he was as stylish and complimented Edison as someone who is more fashion-forward.
He then gave examples of his celeb friends with a keen sense for fashion, such as famed Hong Kong costume designer William Chang, who always gives him advice.
“Because we have been collaborating for so long, whether it is for a movie or a commercial, he styles me most of the time,” said Tony.
When Edison probed Tony on whether her had a favourite designer, he simply shrugged it off, saying he didn’t have one and says he just sees what he likes each year.
According to Tony, it is because every brand is different. Also, when he finds he likes a certain brand, suddenly the new collection doesn’t appeal to him.
“Sometimes when I buy something, I won’t wear it right away. I will leave it aside, then mix and match later,” said Tony.
