TVB Actor Tony Hung Criticised For Speaking To Daughter In English; Told To Use Mandarin Or Cantonese Instead

Raising a child in this day and age is really not easy. With social media, you basically have people scrutinising and criticising every choice you make. 

Just ask TVB actor Tony Hung.

Recently, the 40-year-old took to his Instagram to share a video of him interacting with his three-year-old daughter Amber. Amber's nickname is Sir Face.

Tony and his wife, Hong Kong actress Inez Leong, 36, also have a one-month-old daughter, Beryl, whose nickname is Sir Nose. 

In said video, Tony and Amber were seen sitting next to a window, observing the rainy weather outside.

Tony then told Amber in English to "put your hand on your face". It prompted her to reach out for the rain before gently patting it on her own face.

"One more time, one more time," an amused Tony said, again in English.

While anyone would see that as a heartwarming father-and-daughter moment, netizens, as usual, had something to pick on.

Their issue with the video? That Tony spoke English. 

"Why aren't you teaching your child Mandarin? She's Chinese," berated one netizen. "Why are you not speaking Cantonese?" another complained.

Do these people really expect him to post a video in three different languages?

Thankfully, not all netizens were that unreasonable.

"It's great they're speaking English. Kids should pick up more languages since young," encouraged one netizen.

Another netizen summed it up best with this awesome comment: "You mean Chinese people can't speak English?"
