Where Are We Going, Dad? Child Star Just Made Her International Tennis Debut In Singapore
Her dad is Olympic gold medal-winning diver Tian Liang.
It’s been 10 years since the first season of wildly popular reality show Where Are We Going, Dad? and the kids have all grown up.
Cindy, 14, who starred in the first season alongside her Olympic gold medal-winning diver dad, Tian Liang, 43, recently made headlines after it was reported that she’s making her international tennis debut.
Though Cindy was only five when she appeared on the show, it was apparent even then that she really loved tennis, with fellow cast members nicknaming her “a girl who’s like the wind”.
Tian Liang is very supportive of his daughter’s endeavours, and once took Cindy to watch one of tennis star Naomi Osaka's matches. In 2020, Cindy also attended a tennis masterclass by Australian former world No.1 tennis player Lleyton Hewitt.
Back in September last year, when reports that Cindy was considering going pro in tennis first surfaced, Tian Liang spoke to the media, sharing that he had no plans of letting his daughter do so.
However, he added that he will respect Cindy’s decision, and that he would support whatever choice she makes.
And now, it appears that Cindy has chosen to push forward with her love of tennis.
At the recent J30 Singapore ITF Junior Championships (I), which is running from January 30 to February 4 here, the 14-year-old made her international debut, winning a match against Singapore’s Dong Yi Zhuo.
However, she was knocked out in the quarter-finals, after losing to Indonesia’s Anjali Kirana Junarto.
