HK Actress Theresa Lee, 52, Says She’s Just Going Through Menopause After Barefaced Selfie Shocks Netizens
It’s been three years since Hong Kong-Canadian actress Theresa Lee, 52, appeared in a showbiz project.
Best known for her role as Guo Xiang in the 1995 TV adaptation of The Return of the Condor (she’s dubbed the “Most Beautiful Guo Xiang”), the Miss Hong Kong 1994 second runner-up faded out of the limelight after marrying her Canadian husband Corey Solomonson and gave birth to her son, Tate, in 2004.
In 2009, she moved back to Cananda with her family, and has been keeping a relatively low profile, updating her socials with the occasional family pic.
Netizens and the media zeroed in on her “freckles” and “wrinkles”, which they attributed to the sports enthusiast's active lifestyle and love of the sun.
The red patches and apparent rashes on her nose, cheeks and chin also sparked concern among fans, with many leaving comments asking if she has sensitive skin.
Theresa later replied that she’s just going through menopause which accelerates aging.
Theresa is no stranger to being age shamed. However, instead of letting the negative comments get to her, the outspoken star has learned to embrace her looks and shared a selfie showing that she has aged.
"There are many comments saying I am old. I am indeed old. Time really flies,” she said.
She also shared that contrary to what many think, she hasn’t quit showbiz. She's just been taking fewer acting jobs in recent years as she doesn't get many offers due to her age.
