Yet another celebrity business has apparently fallen prey to the COVID-19 outbreak.

On February 18, Star Bar & Cafe, which is owned by Taiwanese actress Michelle Chen’s father Chen Qin Rong, announced on Facebook that they will be closing shop in Tianmu, an affluent neighbourhood in Taipei. Its newer Zhishan branch, however, will continue to run as usual.

The restaurant is said to be a gift from Michelle, who spent over NT$1mil (S$47,000) buying it over for her dad three years ago. It operated under a different name, Mandarin Cafe, until last July, when she forked out another NT$1mil on rebranding, renovations, and a complete staff overhaul.
