HK Veteran Star Teddy Robin, 78, Seen Waiting For Bus; Netizens Filled With Nostalgia

Veteran star Teddy Robin, 78, who was one of Hong Kong's first pop stars back in the sixties, was recently spotted by a netizen.

Said netizen shared a video of the encounter, revealing that they had spotted the veteran star waiting in line for a public bus recently.

“Chanced upon Teddy Robin today. Though he’s barely 1.5m tall, he’s full of talent, someone who can sing, act and direct, who also helped to nurture multiple A-listers,” wrote the netizen.

Fellow netizens expressed their admiration for Teddy in the comments.

“This is a true artiste, worthy of respect,” one netizen wrote. “He might only be 1.5m tall, but he’s extraordinarily talented indeed,” another added.

Some also expressed that they felt a tinge of sadness after seeing Teddy Robin, with one musing that it “times have changed, indeed”.

Teddy Robin made his showbiz debut in the ‘60s as the guitarist and vocalist for Hong Kong's first rock band, Teddy Robin and the Playboys. He soon shot to superstardom, and later branched out to acting and directing as well.

He was also known for his diminutive stature and big personality.

Apart from directing films like All The Wrong Spies, which earned him a nomination for Best Director at the Hong Kong Film Awards in 1983, Teddy also appeared in multiple projects as an actor.

His most notable projects include the 2010 action-comedy film, Gallants, where he clinched both the Best Actor award at the Hong Kong Film Critics Society Awards and the Best Supporting Actor Award at the Hong Kong Film Awards.
