Taiwanese Star Li Yurou Accuses Hospital Cleaner Of Sexually Harassing Her While She Was In ICU; Hospital Denies All Allegations
Her account of what happened is truly disturbing.
In early October, Taiwanese actress Li Yurou, 50, was rushed to the Shin Kong Wu Ho Su Memorial Hospital for emergency surgery after her intestine ruptured.
She was then warded for close to 20 days, including a stay in the intensive care unit (ICU). Following her discharge, Yurou went to the media, claiming that she was mistreated by the staff there.
“I was really abused in the ICU," she said. "At that time, I yelled at them, ‘Unless you guys torture me to my death, I'll definitely tell the media about how you treat us patients who are unable to move."
She also went on to share that she was sexually harassed by a male cleaner during her stay.
According to Yurou, the incident happened when she was in the ICU.
A nurse had to remove all of the actress' clothes to clean her up after she soiled herself. At the same time, the patient in the next bed needed immediate attention, so the nurse left Yurou to attend to that patient.
It was then, said Yurou, that a male cleaner entered the ward.
She also posted some pictures showing the bruises and scratches she sustained during her stay
“When he came in to clean the ward, he saw me, and even turned his head to check if I was a young woman, before standing beside me to ogle my naked body," Yurou recounted. "It was really unbearable for me, the curtains were already drawn, but he still came in. He also went in and out [of the area] around four times.”
Yurou later added that the male cleaner was staring at her “breasts and genitals”.
She went on to share that even when the nurses came back to clean her up, the man remained in the area and pretended to work while staring at her.
Yurou also mentioned that she was not treated well during her stay and that the lights in her ward were turned on at all times, making it difficult for her to go to sleep.

Yesterday (Nov 2), the hospital issued a statement denying all of Yurou’s allegations.
According to Apple Daily, the hospital said only female cleaners were on duty in the ICU during Yurou’s stay. Similarly, only female cleaners were rostered for work in the surgical wards.
However, Yurou is still standing by her allegations.
In a statement on Facebook, the actress said she is not accusing the hospital of not providing adequate care. She also thanked the doctors and nurses for their hard work.
“I'm not an idiot. My condition still needs the doctors to work together with me to fight it, why would I destroy our doctor-patient relationship?” she said.
But she insists that a male cleaner was in her ward that day.
“I still stand by what I said”, she wrote, adding that if the hospital really checked their roster and still say there was no male cleaner scheduled, then they are telling “a lie”.
She just wants to put this ordeal behind her now
Yurou went on to assert that she’s not suffering from “ICU delirium”.
According to reports, ICU delirium is described as a "sudden and intense confusion that can include hallucinations, delusions, and paranoia”, and that it is a common problem for patients staying or who have stayed in the ICU.
“The medical staff of the hospital saved me, [and] there really are male cleaners at the hospital. As stated above, let’s all stop lying, thank you,” Yurou declared.
