Taiwanese Music Ceremony Mistakenly Announces Wrong Winner For Best Singer-Songwriter Award
Yes, just as awkward as when La La Land was wrongly named Best Picture at the Oscars.
Well this is awkward.
During the 12th Golden Indie Music Award in Taiwan on Saturday (Nov 6), a mix-up behind the scenes resulted in the Best Singer-Songwriter Award given to the wrong winner.
It all started because the presenter for the award, Hongkong singer-songwriter Yoyo Sham, 37, could not make it to the ceremony in person since it was held in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
Thus, she pre-recorded videos where she would call out each of the nominees as the winner, with the vid featuring the right winner to be played on the night itself.
