Every once in a while a celeb gets exposed for allegedly having nasty behaviour in private. This time, it's Taiwanese actress Melody Liu.

Recently, the 47-year-old actress-host was called out on Threads for being a “service industry nightmare", with multiple netizens accusing her of being arrogant and aggressive.

It first started when a netizen, who had just returned to Taiwan from Paris, posted about encountering Melody on a flight, which unexpectedly triggered a wave of complaints from workers in the aviation and F&B industries in the comments section.

A particular experience came from a netizen who previously worked at a high-end restaurant, claiming that the actress became confrontational when a server made a mistake with an order.

She allegedly demanded the server repeatedly recite the menu and said: “Why can’t you remember properly? Come on, repeat it. Say it again.”

A cafe employee also chimed in, stating that Melody looked glum and annoyed the entire time when ordering takeaway coffee. Even though the wait was under 10 minutes, she reportedly showed extreme impatience and even repeatedly rushed the staff.

Another netizen then claimed that Melody was once seen trying on shoes at the counter at a department store near closing time. She was apparently tossing them around but reportedly left without buying a single pair after trying them on.

The accounts resonated with many online, with one netizen openly asserting: “Every time I go to work, I pray I won’t run into her that day.”

On top of that, some also had experience interviewing for positions at Melody's self-founded fashion brand.

One interviewee said that on the interview day, they were asked to clean the warehouse and even wipe up her dog’s urine, despite not yet being hired, which left them traumatised.

“It was terrifying," they said.

In response to the public outcry, Melody personally addressed the issue yesterday (Feb 2), saying she only learned about the backlash after seeing the news and was extremely surprised.

“I’m unable to respond to every allegation one by one, because in my memory, I don’t recall these things happening," she stated.

"Of course, everyone has their own perspective and the right to their own feelings. If any of my personal behavior has ever made someone uncomfortable, I fully accept that and will sincerely reflect on myself.”

Melody also urged netizens not to engage in malicious smearing.

“I’m very aware of and value the responsibility that comes with being a public figure. I chose to come forward to respond because I don’t want to waste everyone’s time and energy," she said.

Are the allegations true?
