Taiwanese Actress Deborah Tsai Paid $93 For A Singapore Arrival Card That’s Actually Free

Taiwanese actress-host Deborah Tsai, 35, recently fell victim to a scam targeting travellers entering Singapore, and this is how it happened.

According to Deborah, while she was trying to figure out the visa requirements to enter Singapore, she came across a website that claimed to be an official site for travellers looking to holiday in Singapore.
 

The site charged US$70 (S$93) for an arrival card to enter Singapore.

Deborah did not suspect that it was a scam, as countries like South Korea, which she travelled to recently, also required travellers to pay a fee before they could get a visa.

“They made it so similar to the real thing, and it’s my first time visiting Singapore, I only know now that you actually don’t need to pay a cent for a Singapore entry visa,” Deborah wrote in her IG story.

She went on to reveal that the site didn’t state how much the application fee was. Although she did fill in her card details, Deborah only realised that the site had charged her such a large sum after she received a notification from her bank.

Deborah then called her bank in an attempt to reverse the transaction, freezing her card as a precaution as well. 

In a post on Facebook shortly after, Deborah added that the fraudulent website appears to have been taken down, and redirected everyone to the official Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) website where travellers can submit their arrival card for free.
