Suzy, Red Velvet make respective comebacks on same day

Former miss A member Suzy, along with girl group Red Velvet, released a new mini album, titled Faces of Love, and a repackaged album, The Perfect Red Velvet, respectively, on January 29. Both were released at 6pm Korean Standard Time.

Suzy, who first made her solo debut in 2017 with Yes? No?, was asked at her press conference about her thoughts on going up against Red Velvet this time around. To which, she shared that she, too, is a fan of the quintet, and that she was looking forward and happy to promote at the same time as them.

However, at the question and answer segment of Suzy’s showcase, reporters are said to have been less than impressed at her inability to answer questions about her album well.

One such example was when reporters asked her about the kind of love she wanted to express through her new album (she is said to have participated in the writing of the lyrics of ‘Sober’, ‘Bad X’ and ‘You All Night’), Suzy struggled to give a response before apologising and being unable to address the question directly.

Meanwhile, Red Velvet continued with their ‘Velvet’ streak with their latest title track ‘Bad Boy’. Label S.M. Entertainment shared in previous interviews that the group will alternate between two different styles, the ‘Red’, which is their cheerful, vivid side (such as in ‘Red Flavour’) and the ‘Velvet’, which is the more mature, mysterious side of them (such as in ‘Peek-a-Boo’).

Following their release of Perfect Velvet with title track ‘Peek-a-Boo’ in November 2017, fans were pleasantly surprised that they continued with their ‘Velvet’ streak with The Perfect Red Velvet and its title track, ‘Bad Boy’.

Both Suzy and Red Velvet have made an impact on various music charts following the release of their respective songs, and will be kicking off their music programme performances within the week.
