The showbiz scene in China is going through a very, um, interesting period right now, what with all the new rules and restrictions that have been popping up ever since stars like Vicki Zhao, Kris Wu, and Zheng Shuang got cancelled for unscrupulous — or straight up criminal — behaviour.
And now, it appears the government is very keen on making sure other celebs are extremely clear on how they should and should not behave.
Recently, Shanghai’s culture and tourism, literary and art, and publicity bureaus came together to organise a “training class in art and virtue for writers and artists in the city”, which aims to “correct unhealthy trends in the entertainment industry” by improving political literacy, legal awareness, and moral values.
