The trial for Stephen Chow’s dramatic financial lawsuit, in which his ex-girlfriend, construction heiress Alice Yu, is claiming over HK$70mil (S$12.1mil) in commission fees from his property investment profits, continued this week as he personally showed up to take the stand for a three-day cross-examination.

Needless to say, the renowned Hongkong filmmaker’s presence spawned a media circus, with shutterbugs besieging him from all sides to take too-close-for-comfort shots every time he showed up — not exactly an inspiring sight considering the city is currently experiencing a surge in COVID-19 cases.

Even Stephen himself couldn’t help but to make a comment about the blatant lack of safe distancing. According to Apple Daily, the 58-year-old approached a reporter and asked, “Aren’t there gathering restrictions right now? Shouldn’t we be maintaining social distancing? Being surrounded by so many people doesn’t seem like a good thing at all. Aren’t you scared? I’m scared!”
