Stephen Chow’s Pet French Bulldog Predicted Argentina’s World Cup Victory
No World Cup is complete without some sort of psychic animal predicting the winners of the matches.
Remember the Paul the “octopus oracle” that went viral after correctly predicting eight straight matches during the 2010 World Cup?
Yesterday (Dec 18), comedy legend Stephen Chow decided to join in the fun by getting his pet pooch Kio to have a crack at naming who will take home the trophy in the final between France and Argentina.
The Hong Kong star shared two pics on Instagram. The first pic showed Kio in a jersey from Stephen's 2001 sports comedy hit Shaolin Soccer and before him were the Argentinian and French flags, along with a speech bubble: “Kio, which team should I bet on tonight?”
In the second pic, Kio has his paw on the Argentinian flag with the “reply”: “Of course this team! All in, bro!”
In his caption, Stephen wrote: “Trust you, bro! All in!”
While some netizens declared that they would place bets based on Kio’s prediction, others were amused and rather skeptical of his choice.
“Kio is a French bulldog. How can he pick Argentina?” asked one fan, to which Stephen replied: “One look and you can tell he is not a pure breed. He has to be a spy.”
No word on whether Stephen did eventually bet on Argentina but he was clearly overjoyed that the team won, posting a pic of Lionel Messi on his IG stories after the match. Argentina beat France on penalties 4-2 after tying the game at 3-3.
