Stefanie Sun Praised For Disabling Gift-Giving Function On 1st Douyin Live Concert, Which Got 580 Million ‘Likes’

Singaporean singer Stefanie Sun is one of the newest celebs to get on Douyin — guess she's no longer an “obscure singer” — and she commemorated her arrival on the social media platform in a big way with a live stream concert on Thursday night (Sep 9).
To say the 43-year-old received a warm welcome would be a bit of an understatement: According to reports, her video received over 100 million ‘likes’ in just 16 minutes, and by the time the hour-long show ended, that number had shot up to 580 million.
Stef’s still got it after over 20 years in the biz
Something that viewers noticed was that Stef had disabled the gift-giving function on her stream, a move that earned her praise from fans who proudly dubbed her “the goddess who is worthy of their love of many years”.
Media outlets also noted that Stef joining the Chinese app indirectly rubbishes rumours that she’s one of those affected by a “restriction order” that will supposedly prohibit stars with foreign nationalities from working in China. Her reps had also denied this earlier, telling 8days.sg that it's "fake news".

While Stef clearly looked amazing during her performance, there were those who (unnecessarily) pointed out that due to the lack of a beauty filter, her “crow’s feet”, “under-eye bags”, and “laugh lines” were all “very obvious”. Um, seriously?
On the bright side, her fans didn’t care, with one gushing, “She already has fine lines on her face but we still love her.”
