Awkward Or Not? Exes Song Joong Ki & Song Hye Kyo Attend Same Event For 1st Time Since Divorce 5 Years Ago

Many of Korea’s biggest stars turned up at the 60th Baeksang Awards yesterday (May 7) to recognise the best in the business.

One topic of interest was the appearance of former A-list couple Song Joong Ki, 38, and Song Hye Kyo, 42.

The event marked the first time both stars showed up at the same event since their divorce in 2019.

Considering how popular they are, we wonder how these two avoided each other for so long?

Joong Ki was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his film, Hopeless, while Hye Kyo who won Best Actress last year for her role in The Glory, was invited to announce this year’s winner.

It also seems that the cameras were specifically instructed not to pan over to Joong Ki when Hye Ko was on stage, and viewers only saw the former in the audience when Chinese actress Tang Wei went up.

Of course, the ex ‘Song Song couple’ didn’t appear anywhere close to each other the entire night, but netizens wasted no time in posting and gushing over pictures of the two from the red carpet in 2016.

All that gushing made their appearance trend on Weibo as the second hottest search topic with over 70 million views.

Joong Ki and Hye Ko first met on the set of K-drama Descendants of the Sun in 2016, leading to a real-life romance soon after.

They then got married in a high-profile wedding in 2017 before calling it quits less than two years later.

Since then, Joong Ki has gone on to marry former British actress Kathy Louise Saunders and share an 11-month-old son together.
