Hong Kong socialite Abby Choi's grisly murder continues to dominate headlines as case updates flood the news.

On Friday (Feb 24), the 28-year-old model's dismembered body was found in an apartment in a village located in rural Tai Po District, two days after she was reported missing. Several parts of her corpse were missing, including her head.

Yesterday (Feb 26), the police made another horrific discovery – that of Abby's head in one of two soup pots found in the house. The pots were reportedly filled with soup and minced meat, believed to be human remains, as well as carrots and green radish.

Meanwhile, the police are still searching for Abby's missing hands and torso.

While the public recoils in horror at the gruesome nature of the attack, Hong Kong actor Carlos Koo felt a different kind of personal connection to the case. The 44-year-old actor, who has appeared in TVB dramas, happened to live in the same apartment two years ago.

We're getting creeps just thinking about it.

"[I] can't believe it's the same apartment that I lived in two years ago! It's really terrifying! [I] Hope that the victim can rest in peace," said the actor in his Instagram Story on Saturday (Feb 26).

In an interview with Hong Kong media HK01, Carlos, who's currently working in Shanghai, shared that he's been having trouble sleeping after learning about the murder.

"I'm not in Hong Kong now but I'm very close to my old neighbours and they told me that something happened in the house. The entire incident is so disturbing, I heard that the kitchen layout is still the same and I used to cook there. The place where the suspect parked his car was where I used to park mine too, it's hard to believe that something like that happened," he remarked.

"I worked for 20 hours yesterday but I couldn't fall asleep after returning to the hotel. Even after I fell asleep I kept having nightmares. I dreamt that I was a killer, there was a severed head and dismembered body parts, it's really petrifying!"

The actor shared that he'd just got married when he rented the 500 sq ft unit for a year while waiting for his new home to be ready. He also added that the house, which has two bedrooms and two living rooms, cost him about HK$10,000 (S$1.7K) a month back then.

"I lived there from 2020 to 2021, and the owner is a very nice, helpful person. I hope that justice will be served for the victim and she can rest in peace!," said Carlos.

Abby's former husband had been arrested for suspected murder

After Abby's body was found, her ex-husband Alex Kwong, along with his brother Anthony and their father Kwong Kau, became the prime murder suspects.

According to reports, Hong Kong police superintendent Alan Chung revealed that Abby and her former in-laws were having financial disputes involving “a huge fortune”.

On Saturday, Alex was reportedly arrested at the Tung Chung pier on Lantau Island, attempting to flee while carrying HK$4.5 million (S$774,000) worth of cash and luxury watches with him. The other two suspects, along with Alex's mum, who's been charged with obstructing the case, were detained the day before.
