Shu Qi, Lan Hsin-Mei & Matilda Tao’s Popular Noodle Restaurant To Close Flagship Outlet In Taiwan Next Month
Another day, another COVID-19 business casualty.
Times have been tough for F&B businesses. With most people staying home during the COVID-19 outbreak, eateries are experiencing a sharp drop in customers, and some have even had to shut their doors ‘cos business is so bad.
Even celeb-owned establishments are not spared. Last month, popular Sichuan cuisine chain Kiki Restaurant announced that their Eslite Spectrum Xinban branch in Taipei will be closed until July 14. Then, earlier this week, they posted another update on Facebook confirming that their flagship outlet in the Fuxing District will also be suspending operations from June 16 onwards.
The first Kiki outlet was opened by Taiwanese host Pauline Lan and a partner in 1991. Taiwanese actress Shu Qi and Taiwanese host Matilda Tao later came onboard as investors, and Shu Qi is widely known as the “face” of the brand, having been featured regularly in advertisements and regularly sharing about their products on her socials.
