Taiwanese star Show Luo shared last month (Mar 28) that his mum has been battling Alzheimer's disease for the past few years.

The 45-year-old star explained that he initially had no intention of publicising his 66-year-old mum's condition. But in the past two to three years, some friends noted that "there was something strange with her but couldn't put their finger on it".

According to Show, people who had spoken to his mother for more than five minutes would find her repeating the same topic and asking the same questions.

"If you happen to meet her again the next day, you may be surprised that it's as if a 'restart' button was pressed in her brain," he said.

However, he hopes that people would not shy away from greeting her. "If you have the chance to meet my mum, please greet her enthusiastically like you always do and chat with her. She will be very happy," he said.

"If she, under certain circumstances, brings you any inconvenience by accident, I'm sorry. I hope you can understand that she didn't do it on purpose," he added.

Show also shared that he took her to Hawaii for a holiday recently. It was the last place he'd travelled to with his mum and dad, who died in 2005 at the age of 50 from liver cancer.

He revealed that being in Hawaii again had triggered some emotions in his mother.

"I hope those memories can stay in her brain for a longer time, and wouldn't be erased away by time so soon," he said.

In a separate IG reel, Show was also seen holding his mum's hand while strolling down the streets of Hawaii.

When he asked his mum if she was happy, she replied: "Happy!".

He also told his mum that what matters the most is that she's untroubled. She responded laughingly: "So you need to make me happy every day."

"It doesn't matter what you forget, what's most important is that you're happy every day!" he quipped.
