Veteran Hong Kong actor Shek Sau turns 76 this year, but is still a picture of health.

He often makes headlines for his youthful good looks, and was even dubbed “The Most Stylish Grandpa” after welcoming his granddaughter in late 2022.

As good as he is with maintaining his physique, Shek Sau is not infallible to the effects of ageing.

During a recent interview, the actor revealed that he discovered he could not hear as clearly as he used to after a performance.

After consulting a doctor, he found out he only has 60 per cent of his hearing left. The main cause of his loss of hearing? Long-term usage of headphones, and his hobbies, which include playing the drums and the saxophone.

After undergoing treatment and using hearing aids, he is no longer deterred by the condition, and is able to carry on working on projects as normal.

However, he has given up drumming, and wears earplugs when playing the saxophone to prevent further hearing loss.

Hearing problems aside, Shek Sau is known to have lead a healthy lifestyle.

He doesn’t drink or smoke, and has always loved exercising since a young age. He goes for brisk walks daily, hits the gym regularly, and controls his intake of oil, salt, and sugar.

Perhaps this serves as a good reminder the next time you decide to turn your headphone volume up too high.
