“We Failed As Parents”: Taiwanese Star Sharon Hsu After Her 10-Month-Old Baby Accidentally Swallows Safety Pin And Throws Up Blood
Thankfully, the kid did not suffer any serious injuries from the incident.
Taiwanese star Sharon Hsu, 42, recently found herself in a situation no parent would ever want to be in.
The actress-singer discovered her 10-month-old daughter, Te Te, looking like she was choking on something. She suspected Te Te might have food stuck in her throat, and asked her husband, actor Edison Wang, to perform the Heimlich manoeuvre on their baby.
She also tried digging the food out of Te Te’s mouth.
Sharon added that Te Te's face started to turn pale and appeared in pain. She also looked like she was going to faint from a lack of oxygen. "I was panicking, and I started to feel dizzy as my mind went blank,” wrote Sharon.
Just as Sharon was about to call an ambulance, Te Te threw up blood and a small open safety pin, which the kid must have found on the ground while crawling around.
“My soul returned to my body when I saw that you were feeling much better and that you could breathe properly,” recalled Sharon.
Sharon and Edison then brought their baby to the hospital for a detailed check-up. The doctor later confirmed that Te Te did not ingest anything else, and that there wasn’t much damage done to her throat.
Sharon now blames herself for the incident. “Dad and Mum were really careless. We thought we were going to lose you. At that moment, we felt as though we had failed as parents. We didn’t take good care of you, and almost made you lose your life,” she recounted.
Accidents happen, but here's a PSA to all parents to be careful of dangerous items that may be laying around the house.
