Fat-Shaming Videos Of Selina Jen Go Viral; Her Dad & Fans Come To Her Defense: "She's Doing Very Well"

Some days, you simply stumble upon the ugly side of the internet — the kind that leaves people absolutely infuriated.

Recently, Taiwanese singer Selina Jen was spotted picking up her three-year-old son, nicknamed “Little Cashew”, from kindergarten in Taipei’s Tianmu district.

The 44-year-old former S.H.E member, who was dressed in a loose white T-shirt and black pants, was accompanied by her non-celebrity boyfriend, Little Syu, who is seven years her junior and the father of Little Cashew.

Since giving birth to her son in 2023, Selina has largely kept a low profile and has devoted much of her time to caring for him. This was also one of the rare occasions in recent months that the singer had been photographed in public.

While the seemingly heartwarming footage showed Selina enjoying quality time with her family, some netizens were quick to turn their attention to her figure, with some even resorting to cruel insults such as “fat auntie".

Thankfully, Selina’s fans did not back down.

Fans pointed out that Selina, who suffered severe burns over 54 per cent of her body in a 2010 on-set accident, has been through different seasons of life and now has the family life she "has always wanted".

Before dating Little Syu, Selina was married to Taiwanese lawyer Richard Chang from 2011 to 2016.

They also argued that her size should not matter as long as she is happy and healthy.

“What’s wrong with people who say she isn’t thin? Why does she have to be thin?” one fan asked.

“She has gone through such difficult times. Now, we just want her to be happy and healthy,” another wrote.

Selina’s father, Taiwanese star Milton Jen, has also spoken up for his daughter.

“She’s doing very well and living a fulfilling life now. She will always be my beloved daughter,” he said.
