Selena Lee, 41, Says She’s Been Told Not To Get Pregnant While She Undergoes Treatment For Autoimmune Disease
The actress, who got engaged last year to her personal trainer boyfriend, also said she can't go back to work 'cos her "bulging eyes" make her expressions look weird on screen.
Her health problems are why the 41-year-old actress has been on a hiatus from work since September.
In a recent interview with TVB actress-host Carol Cheng, Selena revealed more about the treatment she's undergoing for her autoimmune disease, and how she's been been advised not to get pregnant during this period.

Her plans to have kids will have to wait
In February 2021, Selena announced her engagement to her personal trainer boyfriend, Anson Cha. At that time, she shared that the wedding date has not been set, and that they “may have to wait till after the pandemic” to get hitched and possibly start a family.
However, Selena's baby making plans will have to be delayed even more no thanks to her illness.
According to Selena, whose new TVB drama has been creating a lot of controversy, the treatment for her autoimmune disease includes taking steroids. As a result, she’s not able to have children at the moment.
"I can't get pregnant during this period. I love children, but that can't be forced. I need to improve my health first", she said to Carol.

Selena also shared that she had planned to resume work in June, but looking at her current treatment conditions, that is unlikely to happen.
During the interview, Selena said that when she looks downwards, her left eye can't be closed.
“It feels like my eye got bigger, but actually it’s bulging. It doesn’t hurt, but I can’t work because I can’t put on make-up," she revealed. "And my expressions when filming look weird. It was really serious previously, because my thyroid was unwell. But it’s improving, hopefully when my immune system gets better, [my eyes] will slowly recover too.”

Good things can wait
When asked about her upcoming wedding with Anson, which has yet again been pushed back due to the pandemic, Selena said: “As long as we need to be quarantined, we won’t be having the wedding.”
She added: “We don’t have to wait for the entire pandemic to be over, but we need to at least not have to quarantine! But since we’ve already chosen each other, it doesn’t matter when the wedding happens.”
Selena, whose mum lives in Canada, went on to say that she wishes for her family to be there in person to witness her wedding.
“It doesn’t make sense that my mother is not present at my wedding. I’m not in a hurry, many people already call me Mrs Cha, so it’s okay, I already see myself as that. That piece of paper [the wedding certificate] is just a formality."
