Rumours Claim Late Patrick Tse Left 90% Of Estate To Two Grandsons, With Funds Managed By Ex-Daughter-in-Law Cecilia Cheung

Hong Kong veteran actor Patrick Tse has died at the age of 89.

His death was confirmed by his two children, Hong Kong singer Nicholas Tse, 45, and Jennifer Tse, on their respective social media accounts.

"With profound sadness, our family announces the passing of our beloved father, Patrick Tse," wrote Jennifer, 43. "He passed away peacefully at the hospital surrounded by the love of his family, after a period of declining health."

It was later reported that Patrick died of pneumonia on July 16 and was cremated on Monday morning (July 20) at Wo Hop Shek Crematorium in Fanling.

Following his passing, long-standing rumours about the distribution of his estate have resurfaced.

The most talked-about claim is that Patrick had planned to leave most of his estate to his two grandsons, with his former daughter-in-law Cecilia Cheung managing the inheritance.

Cecilia and Nicholas, who split in 2011 after five years of marriage, share two sons, Lucas, 18, and Quintus, 16.

Although these rumours have not been confirmed by the family, the 46-year-old quietly changed her social media profile pictures to a solid black image, which many interpreted as a low-key tribute to her former father-in-law.

Rumours claim that Patrick had already completed his estate planning and signed a will.

The estate is said to be worth over HK$100 million (approximately S$17.3 million), including real estate, stocks, investments and intellectual property rights.

According to the alleged will, 90 per cent of the estate would be left to Lucas and Quintus, with the remaining 10 per cent reportedly divided equally between Patrick's children, Nicholas and Jennifer.

It was said that Patrick believed his children were already financially established and successful in their own careers, while his grandsons would require more care and protection.

However, this claim has been questioned as the rumoured inheritance plan reportedly does not include Jennifer's seven-year-old daughter Sara or her one-year-old son, Brooklyn Milne, with her partner, Matthew.

This omission has led some to doubt the authenticity of the story.

Over the years, Patrick reportedly maintained a close relationship with Cecilia.

Patrick was often described as being very fond of his former daughter-in-law and continued to regard her as the Tse family's "recognised daughter-in-law".

He had also openly said in an interview that he "really dotes on [Cecilia]" because she had given him two grandsons.

Because of this special relationship, rumours have circulated online for years that Patrick intended to make arrangements benefiting Cecilia in his estate planning.

However, there is currently no publicly available evidence confirming the contents of Patrick's will, nor has any family member confirmed the reported inheritance arrangements.
