Netizens Surprised By How Different Roger Kwok, 58, Looks In New Douyin Video
Last month (Apr 28), Hong Kong actor Roger Kwok finally jumped on the Douyin bandwagon.
And if you're looking for a trip down memory lane, you really need to drop by the 58-year-old actor's page.
In one of the videos he posted, Roger recreated a scene from his 2003 TVB drama Not Just A Pretty Face, in which he starred opposite Hong Kong singer Joey Yung.
The original scene saw Roger reprimanding his co-star Deno Cheung about not being able to save money. For his Douyin version, Roger switched up the lines to say: "It's been 20 years since Not Just A Pretty Face aired, you still haven't saved HK$70K (S$12K)? How would you have money to spend?"
"You eat cheap food and wear cheap clothes, everything is cheap. I don't understand how you can be so bad at managing your finances!" he continued.
So riveting was Roger's performance, some netizens felt that he was targeting them while watching the video.
"He didn't use a single cuss word but the damage inflicted on me was huge," said one netizen, while another wrote: "Didn't expect to get scolded when I went on Douyin."
Another thing that surprised netizens was how different Roger looked in the video.
Some wondered if he had gone too heavy with the use of a beauty filter while others speculated that he had work done to his face, with one netizen even going as far as to say he looked "stiff and rubbery".
Well, at least he's still a damn good actor.
