TVB Actor Raymond Cho Says His Dream Is To Relocate His Family To China 'Cos "It's A Place That's Peaceful And With No Hatred"

The actor announced earlier this year that he’d be living in Guangzhou for six months. Guess the move’s permanent now.

Looks like there’s a new Hongkong celeb who will be permanently relocating to China

Earlier this year, TVB actor Raymond Cho, 57, revealed that he will be living in Guangzhou, China for six months to pursue a couple of work opportunities.

However, his move was delayed. Filming for his current TVB project, Brutally Young 2.0, was pushed back as Hongkong grappled with a fresh COVID-19 outbreak.

At that time, Raymond shared that his income had fallen by “about 70 per cent” compared to when his career was at its peak.

In 2019, Raymond faced a great deal of public backlash after showing his support for the Hongkong police force at a pro-police event. It was reported then that he’d lost three endorsement deals.

Now that Brutally Young 2.0 is airing, it seems like Raymond is prepared to jet off to China… for good.

In a recent interview, Raymond shared that his dream is to relocate his family to China.

He added that he wants to move to China 'cos society has been “disrupted” by recent events in Hongkong, and that he likes “a place that’s peaceful and with no hatred”.

The actor added that he feels that he can only live an “ordinary life” if “society is united”.

Raymond, who has invested in a couple of businesses in China and has his own company there, says he’s been planning the move for a while.

His wife of 15 years, Elaine, is said to be fully supportive of his decision. Elaine is the daughter of ‘70s Hongkong screen idol, David Chiang, 74.

As for his showbiz career, Raymond shared that Hongkong’s entertainment industry has changed considerably. He also described it as “small”, which is why he hopes to further his career in China.

Finally, the actor’s contract with TVB is still in-effect, which is why he is unable to relocate permanently for now.

However, Raymond shared that he hopes to make his move official as soon as possible.
