Rat Caught Eating Char Siew Bao In Chinese Restaurant, Netizens Ask If Its From Ratatouille
Discovering a rat infestation in a restaurant is nothing new. But it still makes many grimace in disgust. Remember the rodent that fell from the ceiling of the Tangs Market Food Court?
This time, a popular chain restaurant in Guangzhou, China is being called out for their hygiene levels after a rodent was filmed gnawing on a char siew bao.
The netizen who shot the video was even overheard commenting that the rat was “happily eating” without a care in the world.
As someone who couldn’t bear to watch the animated film Ratatouille, the video made this writer nauseous watching the 26-second clip.
After the video went viral last Wednesday (Oct 31), visitors to the restaurant reported that the food preparation area was closed with no food being displayed the following day.
Wait… How are they still open for business?
The restaurant has since confirmed the incident happened at their flagship store in a statement to the media.
The statement also assured the public that all food and containers from the outlet were destroyed, with a professional cleaning company hired to give the premises a deep clean.
Interestingly, many netizens were not too bothered by what they saw, with some saying the found the scene, “quite cute”
Seriously?
Others even felt the clip could be a scene from the live-action version of Ratatouille, with some asking if it was Remy, the name of the rat in the film.
“Don’t you know that is Remy? He’s just checking on the quality of the buns,” joked a comment.
No, that doesn’t make the lapse in hygiene any cuter to us.
