Chinese Reality Show The Rap of China Mocked For Making Contestants Take Urine Test
What do they think rappers do in their private lives?
Hit Chinese competition show The Rap Of China is back with a new season and it has been making waves online even before its premiere.
Contestants have taken to social media to share their experiences, and seems like many were taken aback that they had to take a urine test before cameras rolled.
A contestant who goes by the name of 3Bangz even filmed the process and shared it on Weibo.
After reporting at the test venue, he was briefed on how to collect a sample.
When 3Bangz expressed that he didn’t feel like peeing at the moment, he was immediately offered a bottle of water to help move things along.
Once the sample is submitted, the process is complete.
Netizens on Weibo has called the procedure “absurd”.
However, some reasoned that it “makes sense” as “no one wants the show to be canned in the midst of filming”.
Some also questioned if the precaution is too extreme for a competition show.
"It would be best to also require a clean criminal record," said one sarcastic netizen, while another wrote: "They should check for HPV (Human papillomavirus) too."
The reality show reportedly has a very strict criteria for contestants and has maintained a cautious approach since the auditions.
One of the conditions is that contestants must be of “good character” and they are also required to provide screenshots of the homepages of all social media accounts beforehand.
Wait... what do they think rappers do in their private lives?!
