Rainie Yang Dedicates Latest Song To Her 15-Year-Old Dog Yumi

Rainie said that she named the song 'Nutrients' because she sees her relationship with her dog as a “journey of companionship”, where they both “unconsciously draw nutrients from each other while growing up at the same time”.

“[Filming this music video] has left me and Yumi with the most beautiful and precious memories,” the 35-year-old singer wrote on IG on February 16.

And she’s got Taiwanese singer-songwriter Peggy Hsu to thank for it.

“In my heart, Peggy’s the queen of efficiency! It’s not that the other [songwriters] aren’t fast ⁠— Peggy just progresses way too quickly!” said Rainie, adding that the song was "impeccable” and that she “felt like crying after listening to it”.

“I hope everyone can be the 'nutrients' for our children and fur kids, so that they can grow into a big tree with love,” Rainie said.

Rainie also invited other celeb fur-parents and their fur kids, like Taiwanese actress Nini Chen and her pooch, Chelsea, as well as Ivy Shao and her dog, Ah Bi, to be part of the music video.

Rainie’s former 4 in Love band members also joined in the shoot. Windie Zhang brought along her three-year-old daughter, Ah Bao, while Sunnie Huang arrived with her entire family to show support.

Filming the music video was a breeze since Rainie’s dog is no stranger to the camera. According to reports, Yumi whose nickname is 'Buffalo' because she drinks a lot of water, has been in many fashion shoots over the years.

Yumi is also survivor. In 2018, she was found to have a mast cell tumour (MCT) but fortunately, the surgery to remove it was successful.
