Rain regrets not giving Kim Tae Hee a fancy wedding

The Korean singer and his wife, actress Kim Tae Hee, only spent approximately S$2,460 for the whole ceremony

South Korean singer Rain appeared in an episode of Carefree Travelers on Tuesday, where he opened up about his married life and wedding, and expressed regret at not having an extravagant ceremony.

The singer, who tied the knot with fellow actress Kim Tae Hee in a low-key ceremony in January after five years of dating, said that there were a lot of things he initially planned to do and had even “opened an installment savings account for the wedding.” However, it was Tae Hee who wanted to have a low-key and quiet ceremony, so he went along with it as he wanted her to have her dream wedding

“My wife was the first to say she wanted a simple and private ceremony, and nothing too fancy. Therefore, the actual total cost of the wedding only came out to a little over 2 million won (approximately S$2,460),” Rain said.

He also shared that he wore a tuxedo that he already owned and that the couple did not have a wedding photo shoot as they did not hire a professional photographer. Instead, the guests acted as the photographers and the pair used those photos taken to make a video collage.

While Rain may not have gotten his ideal wedding, he did not seem to mind as his biggest wish was ultimately to make Tae Hee happy. He shared that she was the centre of his life where she would not only be the first to listen to his new tracks, but would also be constantly reminded by him that he missed her if he was away from home for too long.

The 35-year-old singer also joked that it was now hard to channel the appropriate emotions into his new sad songs as his wedded life was simply too blissful.

The couple are now parents to their firstborn daughter, who they welcomed on Oct 25 two months ago.
