Patty Hou's 4-Month-Old Son Is Suffering From An Unknown Sickness
Here's hoping he'll get well soon.
At the launch of her new book To Read For Love on Dec 14, host Patty Hou broke down in tears when she spoke about her newborn son. Born on Aug 23, Patty's second child (both her kids are boys) was born one month premature, and was diagnosed with ABO incompatibility. This sickness arises when the mother's and baby's blood are incompatible. This could cause the fetus to develop anemia.
Cradle of love
"The doctor said the condition should alleviate following the severance of the umbilical cord, but he is still suffering from severe anemia. The cause of this is currently unknown, since he's so young it's hard to tell. He's been going to the hospital for check-ups frequently," Patty said. She also revealed that in the past months her son had been in the ICU three times because of his worsening anemia.
Bonded by love
She added that her son has been very brave, and that she believes he will get better soon. Patty also said she saw her bank manager husband Ken Huang cry for the first time when their son's anemia resurfaced. At the launch, Patty was also asked if she's going to send her soon-to-be four years old first son, Ian, to the same pre-school as former-boyfriend Jay Chou's daughter in Shilin, Taiwan. "We're looking at many schools now, but if they happen to be in the same school they can play together."
