Thai martial arts superstar Tony Jaa, who rose to global fame with films such as Ong-Bak (2003) and Tom-Yum-Goong (2005), has reportedly been battling gallbladder cancer for nearly two years.

The actor, who just turned 50 on Feb 5, sparked concern among fans after appearing noticeably thinner in a recent Instagram post.

According to Thai media reports, people close to Tony Jaa revealed that he was diagnosed with stage 3 gallbladder cancer in 2024.

The diagnosis followed severe abdominal pain and symptoms of jaundice affecting his skin and eyes.

He has since undergone surgery to remove affected tissue and has been continuing with chemotherapy.

While he still requires close medical monitoring, reports indicate that his condition has improved significantly.

His strength is gradually returning, and he continues to exercise daily.

He is currently being closely cared for by his family, and more details about his condition are expected to be shared at an appropriate time.

Tony Jaa first gained international recognition with Ong-Bak in 2003 and later cemented his status as Thailand’s top action star through films such as Tom-Yum-Goong.

He also appeared in several international productions such as Furious 7 (2015), xXx: Return of Xander Cage (2017), and Master Z: Ip Man Legacy (2018), earning worldwide acclaim for his sharp fighting style.
