Nicholas Tse Annoyed That Chinese Cooking Show He's On Didn't Use His Brand Of Sausages & Luncheon Meat
Did the team behind Chinese cooking show One Dish To Rule Them All just disrespect one of their judges?
Hong Kong star Nicholas Tse, who has pivoted his showbiz career into an F&B empire over the past decade, is one of the judges of the Tencent reality competition.
We — and Nic apparently — were expecting the show to throw in some free publicity for his food brand, Chef Nic, which he founded in 2016.
But the marketing team obviously had other priorities.
In a recent episode, Chinese author Li Dan, who acts as a commentator on the show, teased the production team for "not having the sense" to include "any products from Chef Nic" for the contestants to use as ingredients.
That casual comment triggered Nic.
"Precisely. I saw sausages and I told them: 'You guys even have sausages yet they are not sausages from Chef Nic?'" he ranted.
A playback scene showed the star pointing at the sausages on set while calling a crew member out. Chef Nic is best known for its variety of packaged sausages.
Already incensed, Nic's gaze was drawn to the cans of luncheon meat, which were also not from Chef Nic.
"How could it not be Chef Nic luncheon meat?," he questioned the director. "If you want, I'll give you two tons [of luncheon meat]!"
"When I saw the sausages in the grill, I was [speechless]," he added.
Now we know how serious Nic Tse is about his meat.
