It's been five years since Malaysian singer Nicholas Teo starred in a drama — his last being 2019 Taiwanese series A Thousand Goodnights — so his fans are overjoyed that their idol is finally making his small screen comeback.

But their way of supporting the 42-year-old star somehow got netizens raising eyebrows.

Recently, it was announced that Nicholas will star in his first Mainland Chinese drama, Ji Wu, opposite Taiwanese actor Talu Wang and Chinese actress Su Xiaotong.

Nicholas, whose love for acting was reignited after participating in Chinese variety show Memories Beyond Horizon 2, then took to his socials to share pics of the gifts his fans had prepared for him at the ceremony.

According to the photos posted by Nicholas, his fans had arranged for a food truck and a huge flower wall for him at the venue.

What netizens found weird was how his fans placed a standee of the star right in the middle of the flower wall, which, honestly made it look like a memorial service.

"If I didn't see the words: 'Good luck for filming', I really would have thought...," commented one netizen.

Another remarked: "I got a shock. I'm glad he's fine."

We wonder what was going through the minds of Nicholas' fans when they designed this flower wall
