Netizens Think Annie Yi, 54, Is Going Through “Middle-Age Weight Gain” After Fan Posts Recent Photo With Her
The Taiwanese star still looks great though.
It’s not every day that you bump into your idol, let alone when you are overseas, but that’s exactly what happened to one lucky fan.
Last week, a Chinese influencer ran into Taiwanese star Annie Yi, 54, at a restaurant in New York, so naturally she had to snag a few pics and videos and upload them on social media. Annie was in New York to attend a youth forum organised by her son Harrison Yu’s NFT art brand Theirsverse.
In the clip, Annie, who was dressed in a printed wrap dress, can be seen chatting with the fan and posing for photos.
The fan gushed about how friendly and down-to-earth Annie was, and was delighted that the star knew she was an influencer.
The post unsurprisingly generated lots of buzz on the internet, however, many comments zeroed in on Annie’s “thick waist and arms” and how she appeared a little than rounder before. Netizens also noted that her “middle-age weight gain” was even more obvious beside the slim fan.
There were those who came to Annie’s defense, saying that it was the unflattering camera angle and her loose dress that caused her to look a bit bigger.
Others commented that she looks really good for her age.
While Annie has not responded to any comments this time, she's no stranger to dealing with online trolls, having been age-shamed and called “grandma” ‘cos of a couple of strands of white hair.
