Netizens Say Karen Mok, 52, Is Unrecognisable In Recent Pictures

Now, this is just baffling.

Hong Kong singer-actress Karen Mok, 52, recently shared a picture on Weibo commemorating the start of a new project, only to get criticised by netizens, who griped that Karen looked so “haggard”, that she was practically “unrecognisable”.

Seriously?!

In the first picture, Karen, who’s dressed in a festive red sweater, poses for the camera with a couple of red packets and a rabbit-themed CNY decoration in hand.

“An auspicious start date for work on the sixth day of CNY, wishing everyone success in everything they do, and for all of your heart’s desires to come true. A deep bow from everyone in the Mok family,” she wrote in her caption.

Pretty normal, right? However, it was the group picture that netizens took issue with.

In the group photo, Karen's all the way at the back, with her hair tied up. And so, netizens begun to nitpick on Karen, criticising her dark circles as well as the wrinkles on her face. Some added that Karen looked visibly gaunt and haggard.

Thankfully, there were netizens who spoke up in defense of the star. They shared that the lighting in the room didn’t appear to be too good, and seemed to have cast a couple of shadows on the star’s face, which was why she looked haggard.

Karen has cut back on work in recent years. After finishing up her existing work schedules in end-2021, the singer-actress went on holiday with her husband, Johannes Natterer. In 2022, she released an English digital EP Loves Jazz Vol.1.

Previously, Karen shared that her biggest goal was to produce an original musical from scratch. Wonder if that's what she's working on this year.
