Singapore’s humble fitness corner is getting a serious upgrade. We checked out the new rooftop fitness and play area at Bishan Ridges, located above the multi-storey carpark at Block 531, where traditional fitness-corner equipment sits alongside proper Kompan outdoor gym machines with adjustable resistance. Some of the machines can handle more than 100lb, while the space also has a calisthenics area with pull-up and dip bars, two Playworld playgrounds for younger children and even a pickleball court. Following the 2026 PSLE Chinese orla exam, parents are questioning whether some of the vocabulary tested is simply too ‘cheem.’ One example that caught attention was “撬棍” (qiào gùn), which means “crowbar”, with the original poster joking that the only “k-a-n” they know definitely isn’t appropriate for a 12-year-old. 😂 But concerns over difficult Chinese vocabulary aren’t new.
